Ingredients

Beef and Marinade

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced bursting with juicy goodness
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce adding a savory depth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for that perfect tender texture

Vegetables and Noodles

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti providing a satisfying base
  • 1 onion thinly sliced for a sweet bite
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced to bring an aromatic kick
  • 1 cup sliced carrots offering a sweet crunch
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (red, green, or yellow) for vibrant color
  • 1 cup broccoli florets adding a nutritious touch
  • 1 cup snow peas bright and crunchy

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce deepening the flavor profile
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce infusing richness
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil delivering a nutty essence
  • 1/4 cup beef broth ensuring moisture and flavor
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry) for thickening the sauce

Garnish

  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped for garnish
  • to taste tablespoons sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch until well coated. Set aside to marinate for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, ensuring they don’t stick together.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside, allowing the beef to retain its juices.
  • In the same skillet, add the other tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the sliced onion, garlic, carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and snow peas until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Return the beef to the skillet, and mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and beef broth in a small bowl. Pour over the beef and vegetables, letting the flavors meld together.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Toss in the lo mein noodles, coating them in the sauce and mixing thoroughly to ensure every bite is packed with flavor.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot.
