Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm water Helps activate the flour.
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter) Adds richness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
  • Create a well in the center, pour in the warm water and olive oil, and stir gently to combine into a dough.
  • Knead the dough for about 2-3 minutes until it forms a soft ball and feels smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a damp towel and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

Shaping

  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 6-8 inches in diameter.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
  • Cook each flatbread for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed up.
  • Stack cooked flatbreads on a plate and cover to keep warm.

Notes

Ensure the water is warm but not hot and knead just until soft. Don't skip the resting period for the best texture.
