Ingredients
  

Muffin Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Forms the base of your muffins.
  • cup granulated sugar Adds sweetness to balance the flavors.
  • teaspoons baking powder Leavens the muffins.
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt Enhances the flavors.
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg Adds warm, aromatic essence.
  • 1 large egg (room temperature) Provides moisture and helps bind ingredients.
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons whole milk Gives muffins a creamy texture.
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly Adds richness and moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Infuses aroma and flavor.

Topping

  • ½ cup granulated sugar For the sugary finish.
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth and flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter For brushing the tops of muffins.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
  • Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 full with batter.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes.
  • While the muffins bake, prepare the topping by mixing ½ cup of sugar with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Once the muffins are done, let them cool slightly.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Serving

  • Serve warm, enjoying them plain or with maple syrup and fresh fruit.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better consistency. Don’t over mix the batter to keep muffins light. Customize by adding chocolate chips or dried fruits for variation.
