For the Meatballs

  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese Adds a nutty flavor that's simply addictive.
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Lends creaminess and that gooey texture.
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten A binding agent that holds everything together.
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream For a touch of rich, velvety goodness.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced An aromatic punch that elevates the dish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season to enhance flavors.

For the Sauce

  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce with basil, garlic, and oregano A flavorful sauce to complement the meatballs.
  • 2 tablespoons prepared pesto For a burst of herby freshness.
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream Ensures every bite is creamy and luscious.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, beaten egg, heavy cream, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix gently, taking care not to overwork the meat.
  • Shape the mixture into balls about the size of a golf ball, yielding approximately 12-14 meatballs.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Cooking

  • Place the meatballs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
  • While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the tomato sauce, pesto, and 1/4 cup of heavy cream. Simmer until heated through.
  • Serve the meatballs either tossed in the sauce or drizzled with it on top.

Notes

For best results, let the meatball mixture rest for 30 minutes before cooking to allow flavors to deepen. You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
