Preparation

  • Slice the onion to create petals by cutting off the top and bottom, keeping the base intact.
  • Soak the onion in buttermilk for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Remove the onion from buttermilk, shaking off any excess.
  • Coat the onion in the flour mixture thoroughly.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Spray the coated onion with cooking spray.
  • Place the onion in the air fryer and cook for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
