Ingredients

For the chicken and sauce

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into tender, bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce for a rich and salty depth
  • 3 tbsp honey bringing a touch of sweetness to balance the flavors
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced releasing an aromatic essence as they cook
  • 1 tsp grated ginger providing a hint of warmth and spice
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional) for a subtle kick
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch giving the chicken a crispy coating
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil ideal for sautéing

For the noodles and garnish

  • 8 oz noodles (rice or egg noodles) which absorb the delicious sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional) for a nutty sprinkle

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and optional red chili flakes to prepare the sauce.
  • In a separate bowl, coat the bite-sized chicken pieces with cornstarch, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook for about 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken, stirring well and allowing it to simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes until thickened.
  • While the chicken is simmering, cook the noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • Combine the cooked noodles with the chicken and sauce in the skillet, tossing gently to coat the noodles.
  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

For the best flavor, consider marinating the chicken before cooking. Ensure the skillet or wok is hot before adding the chicken to prevent sticking, and don’t skip the cornstarch coating for a crispy texture.
